In Loving Memory of David Stankunas, 82

David Stankunas was born in Amsterdam in 1942, the son of the late Benjamin and Dorothy Stankunas. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. After returning home, he was employed by Universal Kodak Film Processing, where he was promoted to plant manager. Upon the passing of his father, he took over Stan's Appliance, the family business founded in 1951, and carried on its tradition as a dedicated business owner in the community.

Family was always at the center of David's life. He was a loving father, a proud and devoted grandfather, and a cherished brother. He found great joy in watching his family grow and took pride in their every accomplishment.

Even through the health challenges of this past year, David faced each day with tremendous strength and often shared his humor with those around him.

He is survived by his son, Richard Stankunas; his daughter, Susan Trubell and her husband, Gary Trubell; his grandchildren, Alexa Stankunas, Jessica Trubell, and Justin Trubell; his sister, Barbara Magila; and niece, Marlene Magila.

David passed away on Tuesday morning, September 24th. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday at 10:00 AM at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State Street, Schenectady, NY 12304, with a service at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany, NY, or the Veterans Medical Center, Albany, NY.
