David Staples Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center on Feb. 14, 2025.
David was born on March 17, 1941, to James Emerson and Florence Butler Staples in Coalville, Utah. He grew up on a dairy farm with his three brothers and three sisters, and his favorite pastime was riding horses in the surrounding mountains. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Western States Mission, where he first met his one true love, Lucy Fisher. They both attended Brigham Young University and were married on June 17, 1964. They had six sons and two daughters ("the 8 K's"), and family was always his greatest treasure. David's poultry career was highlighted by being the owner of Creekwood Farms in Lake Mills, WI, where he and Lucy raised their family for 25 years. His unwavering faith and love for our Savior was one of his most significant attributes. He served as Stake President of the Madison Wisconsin Stake, and then as Mission President for the New Zealand Wellington Mission from 2002-2005. No matter how full his schedule was, David always put others first and was the greatest example of our Savior's unconditional love. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by his loving wife, Lucy, his children, Kristi (Richard) Wendt, Ken (Cindy) Staples, Kary (Emmy) Staples, Kurtis (Stacey) Staples, Kevin (Sonja) Staples, Kimball (Cori) Staples, Kayci (Jeremy) Dunn, Kody (Meghan) Staples, his 31 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. His memory will be forever cherished.
A family service will be held January 25, 2025, in Peoria, AZ and shared via livestream at 8:30am.
