Nita Kropp Hirst

Nita Lois Kropp Hirst entered her eternal home on January 26, 2026 at the age of 100. She lived each day

with gratitude, joy, and resilience.

Born June 15, 1925, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Nita was the daughter of Margaret and William Kropp and

sister to Bill and Mary Ann. She married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Hirst, on May 20, 1950, and

together they raised three daughters: Lynn, Patti, and Leigh.

After retiring to Sun City West in 1980, Nita and Bob became founding members of Church of the Advent

Episcopal, where she formed lasting friendships and served in many ways. A lifelong learner and

enthusiast, Nita embraced golf, stained glass, jewelry making, pottery, leathercraft, and playing

sheepshead-right up to age 100.

She spent nearly 15 wonderful years at Grandview Terrace Independent Living, surrounded by friends

and a carefree lifestyle she cherished. In recent years, she enjoyed summers in Pine, Arizona, and

worshiped at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Payson.

Nita is survived by her daughters Lynn Ihlenburg (Ray), Patti Hirst, and Leigh Pendergraft (Gene);

grandchildren Kelly Raymer, Lauren Holtzmann, Stefani Harris, and Marc Pendergraft; and eight

greatgrandchildren.

Nita was a bright, joyful presence who gifted her family a lifetime of stories, laughter, and love. She will

remain forever in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at Church of the Advent Episcopal Church in Sun City West on

Saturday, March 7 at 11:00am.
