David R Stockburger, born March 10th, 1953 in Akron, Ohio. David pursued his education at the University of Maine Farmington, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. His career was deeply rooted in the office supply industry. He began working for his father right out of college, before venturing out on his own to establish a store on Cape Cod Massachusetts. Eventually he sold the business to WB Mason and continued his career with them in Portland, Maine. Even in retirement, David remained active as an Uber driver, a role he embraced wholeheartedly – spending his days drinking coffee, listening to music, picking up strangers, and making new friends along the way.
David was a man of few words, but had a dry sense of humor that often took people by surprise. He was always kind-hearted and always willing to lend a hand. His passion for model railroading was evident in the intricate panoramic scenery and hand crafted buildings he created. He also had great satisfaction in yard work and took pride in the beauty of his outdoor spaces. When not tending to his yard or working on his model railroads, he enjoyed trips to the beach for a refreshing swim. Summer was his favorite season, when his bright colored Hawaiian shirts and Bermuda shorts would make their annual appearance.
David passed away at Gosnell Hospice House, Scarborough, Maine after a short battle with pulmonary fibrosis on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025.
He is survived by his loving wife, Denise Stockburger, his daughter, Sandra Marshall and husband Ryan Marshall; grandchildren Liam Marshall and Alexis Marshall; sons Ryan Stockburger, Matthew Stockburger and wife Kailey Stockburger; sister Janet Donovan and husband Michael Donovan; brother Dale Stockburger and his partner Tessa Hartley and his beloved dog Buddy.
He is predeceased by his father David F Stockburger, stepmother Janet Stockburger, brother John Stockburger, mother Joanne Hudome and his first wife Tina Russell.
