It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maurice P. Ridlon; "Butch" 76 of Lyman, ME, beloved husband, father, and grandfather who left this world peacefully at home on Sunday, September 21st with his loving family by his side.

Dad enjoyed a long career as a master trained automative specialist and was well respected by colleagues and clients alike. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many years of fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling and camping with his family. He was a dedicated educator of several generations of hunters as a Master Hunter Safety Instructor for the State of Maine. Dad loved teaching and was a natural storyteller. He was a man of great integrity, had a wonderful sense of humor, sharp wit, and a strong work ethic. Caring for his family was always his greatest priority and he was proud of the home he created for all of us to enjoy.

We were all richer for having known him and will continue to move through this life by honoring his steady example of love, kindness, and genuineness in all we do. We will hold steadfast to our cherished memories of a family curated by our Dad; well-loved and connected forever.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years Linda; daughter Melissa Ridlon and husband Roger Grant of Waterboro; daughter Sheryl Spiller-Ridlon of Gorham; grandsons Gavin Grant, Gage Grant, and Daniel Spiller; great-grandchildren Caspian and Sloan; brother-in-love Thomas and his wife Deborah Belanger; sister-in-love Jo Ann and husband Richard Stearns, Jr; several nieces and one nephew; and his beloved dogs Buddy and Callie.

He was predeceased by his mother and father; Diana & Maurice H. Ridlon, his brother Robert Ridlon, and son Scott Ridlon.

In lieu of flowers Dad would be honored if you donated to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, Maine 04005. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 11:00 am, at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford, followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.

I'm sorry to learn about Butch's passing. I first met Butch when I joined the York County fish and Game Club back in the 80's. I took a Hunter Safety course with Butch and I still remember his suggestion to carry cat food as an emergency food in the outdoors. His reasoning was that people would only eat it in an emergency so it would always be there when needed. He served the club and the community for so many years by teaching and setting a good example as an outdoorsman. RIP Butch.
