David Thomas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center on Dec. 30, 2025.
In Loving Memory of
David Arthur Thomas
August 31, 1941 – December 25, 2025
David Arthur Thomas, 84, of Radnor, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 25,
2025.
Born in Ashley, Ohio and raised in Radnor, Ohio, David was the second youngest of five
siblings. He began serving his community early in life as a volunteer firefighter with the
Radnor Township Fire Department before proudly serving in the United States Army.
After his military service, David built a remarkable 47-year career as a hydraulic
mechanic with Denison, a profession that allowed him to travel the world and take great
pride in his work.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Thomas; his mother, Flora Faye
Thomas; his sister, Mary Hill; and his brothers, Louis, Paul, and James Thomas.
David's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted and loving father to his sons, Ben
(Lisa) of Shawnee Hills, Ohio and Luke (Christy) of Scottsdale, Arizona. He adored his
grandchildren, Morgan (Colin) Jack and Collin (Melinda) Thomas, who will forever
remember his unwavering love, encouragement, and support. A deeply cherished Papa;
his love for his family was constant and unmistakable. He was also a beloved uncle to
his nieces and nephews, each of whom felt uniquely seen and valued by him.
For more than fifty years, David expressed his remarkable creativity as a carver,
shaping stone and wood into beautiful, meaningful works of art. His hands-strong yet
precise-belonged to a true artist capable of both great power and delicate detail. He
loved to teach carving and generously shared his passion for transforming raw materials
into art. He was also a member of the Columbus Chippers Woodcarving Club since
1972.
Beyond his creative pursuits, David had a deep love for jazz music and was an active
member of the Mid-Ohio Boogie Club, where he formed many lasting friendships.
David was a man whose presence filled a room-not only because of his stature, but
because of his spirit. Kind, generous, and hardworking, he lived with an open heart and
an unwavering willingness to help others. A natural storyteller and gifted
conversationalist, he could recall vivid details from his life and travels, sharing them with
warmth and humor. He carried a true zest for life, embracing each day with curiosity,
enthusiasm, and gratitude.
David's legacy lives, not only through the family he loved and the art he created, but
through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, generosity, and enduring love.
"Man plans and God laughs." - David's favorite quote

So sorry to hear this, Dave was a remarkable person. We have been friends since 2011 when he taught a wood carving class. I also attended two of his stone carving classes and I would see him every Tuesday morning at SourcePoint. He always had a smile and was a good guy to have a cold beer with.
Regards,
Dennis Mills
