David Wayne Tierce, age 65, of Crossville, Alabama, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, December 15, surrounded by the family he cherished.
David is survived by his daughters, Cassandra (Rich) Lindsey and Sarah (Aaron) Andrews; son, Samuel Tierce; brother Chris (Carol) Tierce; sister Mickie (Tony) Kerr; sister-in-law, Patty Tierce; grandchildren Rhett, Daniel, Savannah, Aubrey, Sadie, R.J., Kairi, Brady, Charlie, and one on the way; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Russell and Joyce Tierce; his sister, Brenda Tierce; and his brother, Steve Tierce.
Born and raised in Spring Garden, David carried the charm and grit of his hometown with him throughout his life. He devoted his career to the Farmers Co-Op, a place where he found deep purpose, kinship, and countless opportunities to connect with people. Whether sharing a story, cracking a joke, or "shooting the bull" with customers and friends, David made every moment count.
Known for his mischievous sense of humor and knack for bringing laughter wherever he went, David embraced his role as the family's self-proclaimed black sheep with pride. He loved pulling pranks, telling stories, and teasing the ones he loved most. Despite his playful antics, his generous spirit shone through in everything he did. He never wanted much for himself but found great joy in giving-whether it was gifts at Christmas, a meal shared with friends, or simply his time and attention.
Pawpaw David absolutely adored his grandchildren, who brought light and laughter to his life. The mere sight of them could brighten his day. Holidays were especially dear to him, and he relished in the magic of celebrating with family. He also had a deep love for food-whether it was grilling up his famous steak, stopping for a box of Krispy Kreme donuts, or making sure his kids and grandkids were well-fed.
He was a man of resilience, overcoming challenges with determination and faith. Though his life held its share of trials, he found peace and joy in his later years. David loved Jesus, and his family takes comfort in knowing he is now at rest in His arms.
David's life will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 18, with visitation at Thompson Funeral Home in Piedmont from 1:00–3:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with Reverends Chris Tierce and Chris Watkins officiating. Graveside services at Piedmont Memory Gardens will immediately follow.
The family requests any food and other gifts of love be brought to Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church for a celebration of life meal following the service.
Pallbearers include Mark Anderson, Evan Kerr, Tyler Ballew, Andrew Dempsey, Randy Morgan, Jimbo White, David "Red" Summerford, Randy Mitchell, and Russ Tierce.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Building Fund at 4257 County Road 34, Centre, or Crossville First Baptist Church Children's Program at 14851 Alabama Highway 68, Crossville, AL, United States, Alabama
David Tierce was a man of laughter, love, and generosity. His legacy will live on in the stories he told, the memories he created, and the love he poured into his family. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
