David Carl Tiffan, 78, of Arthur, IL passed away at 4:45 P.M. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Penn Station, 122 East Progress St. in Arthur, IL. A celebration of Dave’s life will begin following the Visitation at Penn Station in Arthur. Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday in the Arthur Cemetery. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Dave was born on July 26, 1947 in Pekin, IL, the son of Carl Matthew and Shirley Mae (Koch) Tiffan. He married Debra Lynn Miller of Atwood on February 10, 2010. She passed away on October 20, 2021
He is survived by four children, Lori Policht and her husband Steve, “Wheezer”, of Antioch, IL, Travis Tiffan and his wife, Hayley of Atwood, IL, Michael “Mikie” Stirrett and his wife Megan of Atwood, IL, and Jamie Monts and her husband Andy of Arthur, IL; nine grandchildren, Gwendolyn and Claire Policht, Layne and Holdyn Tiffan, Maddix, Mace, and Maelee Stirrett, and Sophie and Chloe Monts, one sister, Diane Hillrich and her husband Tom of St. Charles, MO and his dog that he loved very much, Illy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Debbie Tiffan.
Dave graduated from Tremont High School in 1965 and went on to attend college at SIU Carbondale where he earned his bachelor’s degree in education. He had a brief teaching career at Witt High School, where he taught Drivers Ed. and P.E. for one year. Following his time in education, Dave worked at Willoughby Implement in Arthur, IL. He later joined John Deere Insurance, which eventually became Sentry Insurance where he retired in 2010.
Dave was a member of the Kaskaskia Country Club and was an avid golfer until he wasn’t able to play anymore. He also loved to fish, play cards with his buddies, traveling on weekend motorcycle trips with his wife Debbie, and he couldn’t get enough of his grandchildren, they meant absolutely EVERYTHING to him.
In honor of Dave’s unshakable love of watching his kids and grandkids play sports, memorials may be made to Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Athletics.
