David Tomlin Obituary

Born on August 3, 1978, in Salem, NJ, Dave was the beloved son of Phyllis Y. (Hogate) and the late David A. Tomlin. He was a graduate of Pennsville Memorial High School and went on to earn an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Delaware Technical Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Wilmington University in New Castle, DE.
Dave proudly served as a member of the Pennsville Fire Company for 18 years, holding the role of treasurer for many of those years. He was employed by DuPont for 25 years, most recently serving as Wilmington Area Site Security Chief. He also served for many years with the DuPont ESL Fire Company.
Of all his roles, Dave cherished being a husband and father above all. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family-whether camping, relaxing at the beach, or cheering on his sons at swim meets and track meets.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Andrea N. (Cicchetto) Tomlin; his sons, David A. and Anthony J.; his sister, Dina J. White (Todd); and his nieces, Marissa and Gillian White. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends-many of whom were more like family to him.
Although Dave never received the organ transplant he needed, he strongly believed in the power and importance of organ donation. He would want others to consider registering as donors-offering the gift of life, hope, and healing to those in need.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 12 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE. Overflow parking will be available at the adjacent Brandywine YMCA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 13, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 7 Sharpley Rd., Wilmington, DE. Interment will follow at Lawnside Cemetery in Woodstown, NJ. The family will greet friends at a reception following the burial at Pennsville Fire House, 91 First Street Pennsville, NJ 08070.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gift of Life Howie's House in Philadelphia.

Dave Tomlin was a dear member of the DuPont Experimental Station family. He was the Wilmington Area Security Leader and a leader of the stations Emergency Response Team. Beyond that he was a member of the site's leadership team and help craft the strategy that makes the site what it is today. He was our friend and brother, and he will be deeply missed. We will live on through all of those he touched here.
