In Loving Memory of David Lyn Toombs

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David Lyn Toombs, who was 72 years old and resided in Irving, Texas. David passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2026.

A Life of Service and Enjoyment

David dedicated many years to Scouting. Serving as a Cub and Boy Scout Leader for Pack 181 and Troop 771, inspiring young people through his commitment. He found joy in camping, swimming, and canoeing, mostly sharing these experiences with his children. Board games also brought the family together, creating cherished memories. In addition to his love for the outdoors and games, David participated in reenactments for several years, notably portraying Peter in the Last Supper for seven consecutive years.

Family and Early Life

David was born on May 12, 1953, in Bryan, Texas, to Drexell and Mary Toombs. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his first wife Shirley Toombs, and three nephews: Fran Erck, Shaun Toombs, and Gahlen Dinkle.

Cherished by Loved Ones

David leaves behind his beloved wife, Frances Toombs (Nina), and two children: Davey Toombs and Joy Lee Cachay. He is also survived by two sisters, Beverly Karnath and Terri Taylor; four grandchildren, Lisa Duke, William Duke, Shirley Cachay, and Hugo Chachay; and three great-grandchildren: Eddie Mimms, Catherine Alonso Cachay, and Essence Mimms. His memory will continue to be treasured by all who knew and loved him.
