Sandra Toombs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home on Jan. 30, 2026.
Sandra "Sandy" Tanner Toombs, 73, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in Fort Worth, Texas, on Saturday, January 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable joy.

Sandy was truly fun and full of life. She was always joking, being goofy, and reminding everyone not to take life too seriously. Her humor came naturally, her smile was contagious, and her presence had a way of making ordinary moments brighter.

A simple woman at heart, she loved the things that made life great: good music, live concerts, fresh country air, working in her flower beds, nurturing her plants, reality TV, scary movies, cheering on her favorite teams, and just about any dessert, especially with an ice-cold Dr. Pepper. She was a devoted fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Dallas Cowboys, and, most proudly, the Piggott Mohawks-where she was once a Mohawk cheerleader, and in many ways stayed one forever: full of spirit and always ready to root for the people she loved.

Nana/Grandma Sandy was her grandchildren's biggest fan, faithfully showing up and cheering them on through every season and activity, including soccer, band, baseball, volleyball, football, and basketball. If her grandkids were involved, she wanted to be

present.

She was many things to many people, and she was good at all of them. She was a cool mom, a laid-back mother-in-law, a protective big sister, a favorite aunt, a fun cousin, a loyal friend, and everyone's favorite Nana-likely because she was young at heart and refused to act old.

She was also tough and faced hard times with grit, determination, and a refusal to give up. Later in life, she recommitted her life to Jesus, and her faith became a steady source of strength and resilience. Her family will forever cherish her Nana-isms, those perfectly timed (and often humorous) words of "wisdom", and funny texts that reflected her joyful spirit and love for life.

Sandy will be remembered for her laughter, her resilience, and the way she made people feel at home simply by being herself. Her legacy lives on in the joy she shared, the strength she modeled, and the many family members and friends who were blessed to love her.

She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Stillings, and son-in-law Troy, of Burleson,Texas; her son, Chad Donner, and daughter-in-law Kimberly, of Piggott, Arkansas; her brothers, Jack Tanner and Jeff Tanner, of Piggott, Arkansas; and her sister, Latraca

Moore, of Conway, Arkansas.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Jacob Stillings and wife Darby, of Searcy, Arkansas; Sophie Stillings, of Burleson, Texas; Blakely Donner, of Piggott, Arkansas; and Camden Donner, of Piggott, Arkansas. She leaves behind nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own: Brooke Moore, Tori Tanner, Joshua Tanner, Bradley Tanner, Justin Tanner, and Chase Tanner, along with great-nieces and nephews, extended family members, and many friends who were more like family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tim and Ruth Tanner, of Piggott, Arkansas; her brother, Jerry Tanner, of Dallas, Texas; and an infant sister.

A celebration of her life will be held on February 28, 2026, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Piggott, AR at 3:00 PM. Visitation with the family will take place prior, starting at 1:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Piggott Mohawk Baseball Booster Club, First National Bank, 635 East Main St, Piggott AR 72454 Mohawk Baseball Boosters or Zambia Mission Fund.
