David Tommy Tucker was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on September 23, 1952, and died on October 15, 2024 at the age of 72. David lived a full and happy life of love, strength, dedication and warmth.
Known for his easy-going nature and generous heart, David was a quiet man, so when he did have something to say, you listened. David was a friend to many. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. His warmth and kindness touched all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends and community.
David is preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Maxine Tucker and his brother Jimmy "Bud" Tucker and sister Gatha Attebery. He is survived by his wife Alexa Tucker, his sister Trena Dewitt and his cherished children Chris Tucker and spouse Bry, Erin Hoy and spouse Steve, Kessa Tucker and spouse Chris and Kelly Tucker and spouse Roxanne. He was also the proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Kylee, Kayden, Karson, Adilyn, Emerson, and Revyn, who brought immense joy to his life.
David made his lifelong career as an iron worker and a proud lifetime member of the Iron Workers Local 48 Union. His skilled hands constructed some of Oklahoma's iconic landmarks such the Cowboy Hall of Fame and placement of the famous rotating U-Haul truck upon one of the buildings in downtown Oklahoma City. His work was a lasting testament of his dedication, craftsmanship and pride in his trade. David's courage shone brightest on April 19, 1995, when he served as a rescue worker in the aftermath of the Federal Murrah Building bombing. His selflessness during one of Oklahoma's darkest days will never be forgotten.
David's true passion, however, was speed and adventure. He was always up for a thrill and loved to race and tinker with anything that had wheels. Whether it be off road racing, dune buggies, racing motorcycles, VW bajas and ATVs, he never missed an opportunity to feel the rush of the race. He also took great pride in restoring classic Volkswagen bugs, spending countless hours in his garage bringing them back to life. He has a large collection of them, earning the nickname "The VW graveyard". He loved fishing bass tournaments, Nascar races, going to car shows and anything outdoors.
Beyond work and hobbies, David's heart was his family. He was a devoted husband, beloved father and proud grandfather. His spirit of adventure, his generosity and his love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. We know he has found peace in a place where the fishing is always good and where speed limits don't exist.
The family welcomes all who knew David to join them celebrating his life. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home, 1820 S. Douglas Blvd, Midwest City, Oklahoma 73130.

I had the opportunity of working with David at ExxonMobil in Shawnee Ok several years back. He always had a smile on his face no matter how hard he was working.

So sorry to hear about David passing, Condolences to the family. David and I were childhood friends, I guess you could say best friends. From the age of 5yrs old we started our friendship, lots of great memories from making forts in his grandpa barn or doing donuts in the pasture with an old car. Even though we have lost touch over the years. I will alway remember David as a good friend going up in my early years. Chuck A. Alcedo
