David Ray Tyner, 73, passed away suddenly on Friday August 15, 2025 at Piedmont, Athens, Ga with his family at his side.
David was born on January 31, 1952 in Athens, Ga. to the late Hilda Brown Tyner and Garnett Harris Tyner. A lifelong resident of Madison County, he was a dedicated man to his home and family. He retired from FSIS after 30 years as a food safety inspector.
David is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Jan, his sons, Andy of Clayton, Ga, Wade (Jaclyn) of Benson, NC, and his daughter Mimi of Clayton, Ga, ten grandchildren, Holly Evans, Aubrey, Oliver, Laylah, Caroline, Violet, James, Elizabeth, and Samatha Tyner, and Bailey Levitte, brothers Garnett Harris (Ty) Tyner III (Beth) and Terry (Cathy) of Hull, Ga, nieces and a nephew, and numerous cousins.
David was an avid golfer, spending many days on the course at Double Oaks, Commerce Ga. He loved deep sea fishing in the gulf with family and friends. He provided “meat on the table” for his family with venison for many years. He shared many memories of his time game hunting whether it was quail, dove or rabbit.
A celebration of David's life will be on Tuesday, September 2, at 2 pm at Double Oaks Golf Club, Christ the King Lutheran Church, 3100 Ila Road, Commerce Ga.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice or Camp Maranatha, PO Box 53, Ila, Georgia 30647.
