David Paul Valuska, 67, passed away at the VA Hospital in Chillicothe, Ohio on September 19, 2024. David was born the second son of Edward Paul & JoAnn Pollock Valuska on July 3, 1957 in Steubenville, Ohio. His family affectionately called him "Chug."
David was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He worked in the gaming industry in New Jersey and was employed for many years as a coal miner in Ohio. He was a member of the United Mine Workers. David was a baptized Catholic.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife Samantha of New Jersey.
He will be forever in the hearts of his sister Linda (John) Salsberg; brothers Edward Allan (Debbie) Valuska and Michael (Lisa) Valuska; nieces Melissa Clevenger, Ashley Valuska & Alexis (Jacob) Valuska-Hawkins & baby Zayn; nephews Ted Schieffer & Allan James Valuska and truly devoted sister-cousins Vicki Owen & Dawn Hartrafnt.
Our family will be eternally grateful to the care team at the VA Hospital in Chillicothe. They treated our brother with respect and dedication.
Thank you to the United Mine Workers for never leaving David behind in retirement.
Our thanks to Attys. Sara Gasser and David LaRue for their assistance during our brother's illness.
Our gratitude to John and the staff at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home for their care of David with such heartfelt kindness and patience.
David loved nature. If you wish to make a donation, he would have appreciated a donation to the National Park Foundation or the Audubon Society.
We already miss you, dearest Chug. Rest peacefully now in the endless ocean of God's Love and Mercy. No more stormy seas. You are loved.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will take place at a later date.
