David L. Ware, 92, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 16, 2023. He was born in Norfolk, October 19, 1930, to the late James Robert Ware (Captain Jimmy) and Ida Owens Ware. David was predeceased by his three brothers, James Robert Ware, Jr., Jack Benny Ware, and Edward Ware.
David is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Pattie Moss Ware. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Deborah Michelle Hall and son-in-law Joel Dean Hall; his grandson, Joel David Hall and wife, Aimee; his grandson Jonathan Daniel Hall and wife Pauline; and five great-grandchildren, Jaden, Gavin, Grayson, Elijah and Liliana, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
David attended Maury High School as well as the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary. During the Korean War era he served his country for 4 years in the Air Force at stations both in the United States as well as Saudi Arabia. After his military service, he took a job in the finance industry, working his way up to district supervisor. His position took him to offices in Tennessee, Florida, and Texas. He left to go into business for himself, opening several employment agencies and private business schools, finally retiring in 1990.
David fulfilled a lifelong dream when he learned to fly in 1984. He ultimately bought his own plane and accumulated over 1,000 hours of flight time traveling as far away as the Florida keys and the Bahamas. He also loved being out on his boat and fishing at the cabin.
David was a loving, caring, and generous person - always putting others first. He will be greatly missed by the many people his life touched. He lived his life as a Christian example to others.
David found joy in serving the Lord in churches wherever he moved throughout his lifetime. Over the years he was a Deacon, Chairman of The Deacons, and Sunday School Teacher and served on many church committees. He was a member of Hertford Baptist Church in
Hertford, North Carolina, and most recently attended Azalea Baptist Church in Norfolk.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers with Amedysis Hospice as well as our Visiting Angel, Ginger, who were so loving and caring and made such a difference.
