David R. Wernsman, 69, of Germantown Hills, IL, passed away at 2:04 am on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Carle Health-Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL.
He was born on March 23, 1955, in Fort Knox, KY, to Robert A. and Charlene M. (Wagner) Wernsman. He married Gayle M. Ramoley on December 26, 1981 in Germantown Hills, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Gayle of Germantown Hills; five children, Sarah (Joe Astle) Wernsman and Dan Wernsman both of Germantown Hills, Derek (Erika Harrison) Wernsman of East Peoria, Ashley (Ryan Powell) Wernsman and Jessica Wernsman both of Germantown Hills; seven grandchildren, Isabella Wernsman, Olivia Pfister, Mariah Wernsman-Powell, Alexis Astle, Aria Wernsman, Grayson Wernsman-Powell, and Finley Astle; father, Robert (Linda) Wernsman of Germantown Hills; and two brothers, Brian (Debbie) Wernsman and Keith (Kriss) Wernsman both of Germantown Hills. He was preceded in death by his mother Charlene, daughter Shae Wernsman, and brother Paul Wernsman.
Dave was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He had worked as an assembler for Caterpillar Tractor Company. Dave loved Metamora sports and all Chicago sports, Bears, Blackhawks, Cubs, and Bulls. His hobbies were working; he loved to work! He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery with Father Eric Bolek officiating and military rites accorded. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Germantown Hills Fire Protection District, 313 Prairie Avenue, Germantown Hills, IL 61548. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
