David Weston, beloved son of the late Thomas and Annie-bell Weston, was born on April 13, 1943, in Sumter, South Carolina. He peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, surrounded by love.
After proudly graduating from Lincoln High School in the Class of 1961, David began a noble journey in the military, serving his country with honor during the Vietnam War. Following his sacrifices for our nation, he embarked on an adventure to the Big Apple, where he showcased his talents at esteemed locations like Rockefeller Center. Ultimately, David returned to his roots in Sumter, where he devoted his career to helping others.
At Prisma Tuomey Hospital, David worked as an Orderly and CNA, embodying compassion and care. He later took on supervisory roles at Exide, Yuasa, and Enesys, but perhaps his most cherished position was at Wilder Elementary School, where he had the privilege of working closely with children with special needs. His dedication to these children reflects his deep love for nurturing and supporting those around him.
David was a man of profound faith, deeply loving the Lord and his church community. He found joy in listening to gospel music, singing heartfelt hymns, and connecting with fellow church members, which brought him great comfort and fulfillment. In his leisure, David enjoyed the simple pleasures of life-working in his yard, watching movies with family, cooking delicious meals, and sharing walks with his beloved dog, Chase. He also delighted in family trips and cherished moments spent listening to the humor of Steve Harvey and Nephew Tommy on his cell phone.
David was preceded in death by his beloved son, Stefano Weston, and his dear sisters, Barbara Epps, Annie Bell Weston(Mother), Christina Soto, Thomas Weston (Father), Linda Funchess, and Lorraine Weston, as well as his sister and brother-in-love, Barbara (Lee) Dorsey.
His loving memory will forever be held close by his devoted wife, Constance Weston, and his cherished daughters Tondala Gass, Davida (Tony) Tomlin, Satoshi (Henry) Favor, Kimberly Pugh, Jackie Weston, and Shema (James)Epps. He also leaves behind three adoptive children: Amando Gass-Weston, Shalyn Gass-Weston, and Brianna Weston. Additional family members include his sister-in-love, Velma Banks; brothers-in-love, Willievan (Sandy) Farmer, Deric (Kim) Farmer, Sammie (Mary) Funchess, and special nieces Brunilda "Brunie" (Ron) and Selena (Roy) Washington; nephews David Eric (Stacey) Weston; Andy (Annette) Soto, Shelton (Sharon) Holland and nieces Tiffany (Kenny) Roberts and Samantha Funchess. His godson, Hailey (James) Bemberry, and goddaughter, Chakona (Clifford) Crawford, along with seven grandchildren, one deceased grandchild, ten great-grandchildren, dear special friends Henry (Betty) Wilson, Paul White, and a vast network of relatives and loved ones, will also remember the warmth and kindness David brought into their lives.
