The Life Refections of DeLoris Elizabeth Jones-Young "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens." Ecclesiastes 3:1 A Solid Foundation I was born the 6" child to the late Mr. Richard Jones and Mrs. Ruth Fields Jones in Wedgefield, SC. I was formally educated in the Public School System of Sumter, SC, graduating with honors, from the first senior class at Ebenezer High School in 1957. I relocated to Philadelphia, PA, several years later after my Brother Fred and Daddy passed, and matriculated at the Community College of Philadelphia to pursue a degree in Broadcast Journalism but later changed majors and completed my undergraduate degree in Business Administration at The University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business, Philadelphia, PA, graduating with honors. I completed graduate studies at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. A Journey Dedicated to Serving Others After graduating from college, I began my professional career with the State of Pennsylvania, upon a recommendation from the President of The Wharton School of Business, as a Social Service Case Manager for visually impaired youth. As I progressed in my career field, I was offered a position with the United States Federal Government, Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and a few days later was offered a second position with the United States Federal Government that would change my life forever. With much prayer and thought I decided to accept the second offer and began a lifelong career with the United States Federal Government, Social Security Administration. I was responsible for assisting citizens with their Social Security claims via teleconference or an interview in the office. Through many efforts with the U. S. Social Security Administration, many lives were changed, and many dreams were made complete. Upon arrival in Philadelphia, PA, I joined the Mount Ephraim Baptist Church in North Philadelphia. I actively participated in numerous organizations (too many to list) and activities in the Philadelphia Community and at Mount Ephraim. After more than forty (40) years of living and working in Philadelphia, Ellis and I, returned to South Carolina to care for my last surviving sibling, Dorothy. After Dorothy's passing, Ellis and I remained in South Carolina, in my Mother's home and concluded my career in Sumter, SC, with the United States Federal Government, retiring from the Social Security Administration with Thirty-Five (35) years of devoted service. Much like my mother, Ruth, I took advantage of every opportunity to encourage everyone and exude principles of integrity, responsibility, dependability, and the way to present oneself with dignity and class. Many lives in Philadelphia and Sumter were touched over the years. I basked in the love and affection that was often showered on me, by my devoted son, Sean and many other relatives and friends in the community. A Family Rooted in Love The strict code of excellence, love, and total dedication to our family will remain deeply ingrained in the hearts of my beloved family, Mr. Sean Lamar Jones, Orangeburg, South Carolina, Deacon Calvin Bernard Jones, and his wife Patricia, Wedgefield, SC, Mrs. Larnie Ruth Jones-Caulley, and her husband Barnett, Florence, SC, Pastor Stanley Jones and his wife Pamela, Sumter, SC, Mrs. Carlyn Yvette Jones-Davis, Eustis, FL, Mr. Dencil Cartez Jones, West Columbia, SC, and Reverend Selven Ricardo Jones, El Paso, Tx, along with my Grand Nephews and Nieces, Beloved Cousins in South Carolina, New Jersey and California and a treasured friend, Ms. Emma Jane Tindal, Wedgefield, SC. and many other Sumter Community Friends and Family. DeLoris was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Ellis Young, Jr., her parents, and all her siblings, Mr. Willis Jones, Ms. Mary Louise Jones, Sgt. Freddie Lee Jones, Mr. James Edward Jones, and Ms. Dorothy Mae Jones. Until we meet again, Love Lois
