David William Wheeler

David William Wheeler was born in Houston, Texas on January 8, 1946, to David Coy Wheeler and Alamo (Laminack) Wheeler. He passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the age of 79.

David was a skilled woodworker, and created many pieces over the years, but his favorite projects were the toys he lovingly crafted for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially working in the yard and tending to his garden. Known for his quirky and teasing sense of humor, David brought laughter and joy to those around him, especially his family. He and his wife, Marie, were longtime members of the Church of The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints in Conroe, where their faith and fellowship were an important part of their lives. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

David was preceded in death by his parents, David and Alamo Wheeler and two children, Dee Dee and David, Jr.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years Marie Ann (Hays) Wheeler; children, Shannon Wheeler and wife, Marilyn, LaShawnia Wheeler and Jayson Wheeler and wife Debra; grandchildren, Sheri and Nathan Rogers, Jordan Wheeler, Justin Wheeler, Evan and Rob Sandoval, Matthew and Brittany Boles, Matthew Perrin, Chad Wheeler and Kirstyn Wheeler; 19 great grandchildren; and his sister, Dora Gardner. David is also survived by other dear relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints, 2495 Ed Kharbat Drive, Conroe, TX 77301. Interment will follow at Garden Park cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct 6, 2025 at Conroe Funeral Directors from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Jayden Rogers, Chad Wheeler, Matthew Perrin, Nathan Rogers, Will Leathers and Bobby Mattox.
