Mr. David Lewis Wilburn, Sr., was born in Augusta, GA on Thursday, December 5, 1963, to the late Willie Dan Wilburn and the late Pecola Reese Neal. He entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the Piedmont-Augusta Hospital in Augusta, GA.
David, Sr. was educated in the Warren County School System of Georgia. He loved the game of football and was known for his strong tackling abilities. During his employment years, he worked for Shaw Industries, Inc. for almost 30 dedicated years. He joined the Stamp Branch Baptist Church of Warrenton, GA at an early age. David, Sr. loved working with his hands and was an avid lover of music and he was known as "The Grill Master" for his love of grilling. He loved his family and showed that love daily.
In addition to his loving parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Christian Story and two brothers, Willie Wilburn and Preston Brown. Now that he has gone from 'labor to reward,' he leaves to cherish his memory: a wife of 30 years, Elizabeth Wilburn; four daughters, Shanita Wilburn, Latoya Rogers, Kandyce (LaReeko, Sr.) Rucker and Mercedes Wilburn; three sons, Terrell (Tarin) Neal I, Tavoris Rogers and David, Jr. (Shancrakelia) Wilburn; eleven grandchildren, Jayden Rucker, Jaylen Rucker, Madison Adusei, Terrell Neal II, Caiden Jenkins, London Wilburn, Trevor Neal, Elijah Brown, LaReeko Rucker Jr., A'Riyah Wilburn and Alani Wilburn; nine siblings, Jimmy Wilburn, Corina Thompson, Mary Wilson, Thomasine (Derrick) Duggan, Michael Gary Wilburn, Shirley (Terry) Griffin, Barbara Gilbert, Richard (Marie) Fountain and Ashley Wilburn; a mother-in-law, Betty (Thomas, Sr.) Baker; one sister-in-law, Min. Suzette (Rev. Richard) Turpin; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Baker, Jr. and Jarmone Malcolm; two special uncles, Michael (Barbara) Wilburn and John Ruff; a host of aunts, additional uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, classmates and co-workers.
