We will miss a dedicated member of our community for many years. A friend and Coliege we used to see each other at the gym before he departed Kingsport and had many great conversations. A pioneering professional will be missed

DAVID WAS A WONDERFUL FRIEND AND COMPANION ON MANY BIKE RIDES IN AND AROUND KINGSPORT. I WAS ON A PLANE IN CHARLOTTE, WHEN DAVID AND ANOTHER FRIEND ENTERED THE PLANE. THE FRIEND AND DAVID HAD BEEN IN FRANCE RIDING. THE FRIEND HAD AN ACCIDENT AND WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR SOME TIME. DAVID STAYED WITH HIM AND MADE SURE THE INJURED RIDER GOT HOME SAFELY.
TO SAY THE LEAST, DAVIE LEONARD WAS A GREAT GUY.

My condolences to the family. I worked for David Leonard in the mid-70s as a "print boy". It was my first job and I was in high-school. One time, the staff got him a coffee maker as a gift. He had me make the coffee. It called for 12 teaspoons of coffee and I put in 12 tablespoons - not knowing the difference. He said it was strong enough to sink a ship.

Mr. Leonard was a supportive and knowledgeable mentor. During my early career, I was fortunate to have worked for him and among the other architects in his firm. My best to Leroy and his extended family.
