David Peter Williams Senior was born October 10,1956 in New Orleans, LA. He was the fourth child born from the union of Lawrence Charles and Lorraine G. Williams. Dick Bone, as some called him, was a star football player and proud graduate of George Washington Carver High School (Class of 1974). David pursued higher learning at Grambling State University, where his dedication to education and personal growth shine brightly.
His sense of duty and commitment to service led him to join the U.S. Army, where he served shortly with courage and honor before being discharged honorably. After his military discharge, David became employed with Military Sealift Command, where he served as a Merchant Seaman. David took great pride in being a Merchant Seaman. He would brag and tell many stories about his travels to Spain and the Philippines while aboard the Mispillion Ship. He later became employed by the City of New Orleans, with the Department of Parks and Parkways and the Housing Authority of New Orleans, where he retired, as a Landscaper.
Dick Bone, a lifelong resident of New Orleans, was a 9TH ward legend and a diehard Oakland Raiders fan. He was a hustler with hands of gold that knew how to "make a dollar out of 15 cents"! David was more than his accomplishments. His love for his family was unwavering and unconditional. He was the loving father of Ayanna Hunter-Davis (Terrence Sr.) and David P. Williams Jr. (Elisa). On November 14, 1987, David married Lois Ann Batiste and from this union they would have two daughters, Ferdricka and Miami Williams. He was the proud brother of Cynthia Paul, Michael (Gwen), Keith "Ike", and Angela Williams, and Harriet Webster; grandfather of Daniel, Darron, Terrence Jr., Terrell, Tamia, David III, Eric Jr., Denver, Maia, Maurice, and Marquise; and great-grandfather of Demi, Diego, and Ivy. David also extended his love to his four godchildren, Brenda Porter, Phillip Franklin Jr., Jerald Bouie Jr., and Lois Roman; and best friend, Kerry Parker.
David accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. If you knew David, you knew he loved playing the drums in church. He was a faithful servant that used his God given talents to praise and worship him. Whether he was singing God's praises in the church choir or delivering the spirit of God through his rhythmic drums, he shared his talents with all who listened. He began his Christian endeavors uptown as a member of Faith in God Temple before becoming a dedicated member of Next Generation of Original Morning Star Full Gospel Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir.
David P. Williams Sr. was summoned to Heaven's Gate on Monday, December 2, 2024. He was met by his parents, Lawrence Charles and Lorraine G. Williams; in-laws who accepted him as their own, Norman Mitchell and Joyce Ann Carr Batiste; and his two best friends, Jerry Lee and Bobby Roy Sr.
Relatives and friends of the family are all invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service on Monday, December 16, 2024, 10:00AM, at Next Generation of Original Morning Star Full Gospel Baptist Church, 3536 St. Ferdinand St., NOLA. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the hour of service. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, New Orleans, LA.
