David K. Wilson, age 85, passed away on November 14, 2025. Born on April 16, 1940, he was the elder son of Grover R. and Kathleen (Kinnaman) Wilson, both of whom predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael R. Wilson.
In 1973, David married Bonnie Ann (Woebkenberg) Wilson, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage until her passing in 2021. David is survived by Bonnie's siblings Diana (the late Joseph) Campbell, Sharon (Guy Kemp) Faust, Mary Lynn (Lexie Bopp) Woebkenberg, and Harry (Carla) Woebkenberg, cherished nieces Kristy (Nick) Georgiton, Stephanie (Chris Grandy) Woebkenberg, and Amanda Bryant, nephew Bradley Wilson, adored great- nephews Owen Koerner and Webb Grandy and great-nieces Grace Koerner, Katie, Ally (Owen Hiatt), and Sophie Georgiton. He is also survived by devoted friend Kathy McConkey and by his beloved "adopted" family Mark and Carletta Jacobs, Serena, Joe, and Mae Ratterman, and Caleigh and Cliff Herring.
David earned a B.A. in history from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and an M.A. in secondary education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He began his teaching career at Talawanda High School in Oxford and concluded it at Reading High School, where he served as chair of the Social Studies Department. He retired after 30 years of dedicated service to his students.
David and Bonnie were avid travelers who explored multiple continents, visited numerous countries, and enjoyed many cruises together. They often traveled with lifelong friends and frequently made new ones along the way. In retirement, they moved to Otterbein Senior Life Lebanon, where David was very active in-residence governance, serving as both a member of his Court group and as president of the Residence Governance Council.
A passionate hobbyist, David co-founded Otterbein's Train Room, where he spent countless hours designing and constructing train layouts for various gauges of model trains with n-gauge his favorite. He was also an enthusiastic stamp collector, specializing in stamps from the United Kingdom.
A Celebration of David's Life will be held in Otterbein Lebanon's Chapel on Friday, December 5, 2025, with visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM and the service beginning at 11:00 AM:
