David Robert Wind, 59, of Gaylord, MI, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026. David was born in Flint, Michigan, on January 1, 1967, to Kathleen (Draws) and Robert Wind.
He graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1985 and met the love of his life, Nancy, at Central Michigan University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. He was a devoted father and proud Chippewa, returning for his daughter’s Marching Band performances and visits to his son. Dave and Nancy married July 3, 1993, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Cheboygan, and Dave enjoyed every minute of the day, surrounded by family and friends, dancing polkas and the Hokey Pokey.
He spent his life in Information Technology - he could track down and fix anything - and was lovingly called “Uncle Dave the Computer Doc.” He spent 17 years working in IT at McLaren Northern Michigan, as a Computer Hardware Engineer, and most recently an IT Team Lead; he was so proud to work alongside his son for two years.
Dave was a member of St. Mary Cathedral and looked forward to attending weekly Mass and praying with his family. He loved spending time swimming, tinkering with his hand-me-down pool, and 3D printing. Above all, he adored time with his granddaughters.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Nancy (Bur); children Jessica (Bronikowski) and husband Zachary of Petoskey, and Geoffrey Wind of Grand Blanc; grandchildren Layla, Madeline and Sophia Bronikowski; parents Robert and Kathleen Wind; brothers Douglas (Una) Wind and Andrew (Rupali) Wind. He is also survived by father and mother-in-law Ronald and Patricia Bur, brothers-in-laws Brian (Doniel) and Daniel (Amy) Bur, and nieces and nephews: Kevin, Zachary, Matthew and Alyssa Bur; Megan Bur; and Julia and Jacob Wind.
Dave will be remembered as an amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and “Geepa.”
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Cathedral, where the family will visit with friends beginning at 9:00 AM.
Burial will take place in the spring at Calvary Cemetery in Cheboygan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Nancy Wind, a scholarship fund for Dave's granddaughters, Layla, Madi and Sophia; funds can also be sent via Venmo to: @Nancy-Wind-4.
