So sorry this note is late. My condolences and prayers go out to my York cousins down in Georgia. Debby, Rebecca and their families. Thinking of you during this holiday season when missing someone special is magnified. Your father Burke York was larger than legend and his spot as family patriarch will be hard to fill. Love ya'll! I met Grandpa in October 2020. In these four years, I met a man who loved God, his country, and his family.
Although our time was fleeting I had the privilege to have him officiate our wedding (to his grandson Brian York), he witness to me when I was born again, and he dedicated our sweet baby girl, Charlotte.
In his prayers, on rainy days, Grandpa was always grateful for the rain and he loved his confederate rose tree. He passed away with a tree in full bloom on a rainy day.
Grandpa I will always remember in my prayers to be grateful for the rain and to stop and smell the roses.

I have so many fond memories of Bro. Dave as my pastor, neighbor, and friend. I accepted Christ as he presented the Gospel in VBS and baptized me at Harrison Road Baptist Church. Our family, the Godbees, lived behind the Pastorium and enjoyed many meals, fellowship, and camping trips with the Yorks. My funniest and most embarrassing memory was spending the night with Debby and Becky in their home. Becky and I shared her twin bed. I woke up in the middle of the night laying across the foot of Bro. Dave and Ms. Wanda´s bed! Bro. Dave was gently kicking me and saying, "get up Becky, go to your bed". When they realized it wasn´t Becky but me-Bro. Dave scooped me up in his arms and carried me back to the girls´ room and tucked me into Becky´s bed. I know Bro. Dave was a loving father-even though not mine. He will be greatly missed
