Dawn Michelle Goolsby, 53, of Kansas City, MO died on Sat. June 21, 2025, in Kansas City, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM on Sat. July 5th, until the time of services at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.
Dawn was born on March 11, 1972, in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Herbert and Beverly Ann (Grisby) Thompson. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1991. Dawn worked as a blackjack dealer for Harrah's Casino and Ameristar in Kansas City for many years. She was a former member of the Second Baptist Church, Atchison and enjoyed cooking, decorating, playing video games, going camping, hiking, swimming, going on float trips, traveling, and arts and crafts and photography. She loved having fun with all her relatives, friends, neighbors, young and old alike.
She was married to George Goolsby on August 16, 2003. He survives and lives in Kansas City, MO. Additional survivors include two sons Julien Marcus Goolsby, and Collin Herbert Goolsby, both of Kansas City, MO, two brothers Calvin Thompson, Wichita, KS and Jared Thompson, Manhattan, KS, a sister Vernika Thompson, Cummings, KS a special friend Gary Stamps, Kansas City, MO and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Some of Dawn's final words were she "loved everyone and looks forward to all of us being together again when she gets better".
