Dawn Elayne Ward, 72, passed away on October 13, 2024 in Seabrook, Texas. She was born on November 16, 1951 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Samuel and Ann Reid.
Dawn is survived by: her husband Brian; daughter Winonah Hoffman; son Samuel Ward; sister Sherry Crowson; brother Shawn Reid; grandchildren, Fletcher and Claire Hoffman, and numerous family members and friends.
Dawn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Houston and worked as a simulation software engineer for the Singer-Link Corporation. She then spent twenty-five years at the Johnson Space Center, as a Project Manager in the Simulator Operations and Technology Division. Her awards received during her career at JSC included the Center Director's Commendation, as well as the coveted "Silver Snoopy" Astronauts' Personal Achievement Award. She had a passion for beading and jewelry making and loved to craft jeweled floral displays for family and friends.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Crowder Funeral Home, 111 E. Medical Center Blvd., Webster, Texas 77598.
In lieu of flowers those wishing to make a memorial donation in Dawn's memory may do so to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America at https://www.plannedparenthood.org.
