Dawn Grace Westphal, age 90, of Pella, passed away on Wednesday March 19, 2025, in Marion. Dawn was born on August 28, 1934, in Lyndhurst, Wisconsin to the late Elmer and Lillie (Hoppe) Hoffman. She graduated from Gresham High School and attended Antigo County Normal. Dawn received her degree in teaching and taught at several rural schools. On October 24, 1959, she was united in marriage to Ervin F. Westphal in Tilleda. The couple raised their family on the farm before Ervin's passing in 1979. Dawn worked at Shawano Hospital and Birch Hill Nursing Home as a dietary supervisor.
Dawn is survived by her children, Patty (Cal) Ossmann, Peggy (Al) Buss, Melvin (Margaret) Westphal, Darrin Westphal and Penny (Charles) Ready; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and brother, Elmer (Sandra) Hoffman, Jr. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dawn is preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; sons, Edwin Westphal and Terry Polley; sisters, Velda and Lillie Ann; and parents, Elmer and Lillie.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday March 22, 2025, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano. Burial will be in the spring at Elias Cemetery.
