Angels came on March 12, 2025, to lead Dawn (Krebsbach) Wood of Wausau, 60, to her eternal home and into the arms of her mother, father, Jesus, and Blessed Mother Mary. She was surrounded by her compassionate husband, Jack Wood, and loved ones as she passed peacefully after carrying her cross of cancer courageously. Dawn was raised in Colby, Wisconsin by her parents Raymond and Melanie (Kaiser) Krebsbach. She married the love of her life, Jack Wood, in Hawaii on February 17, 1990.
Dawn was a devout Catholic; her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She found solace and strength in prayer and the sacraments, and her unwavering faith served as an inspiration to all who knew her. As part of Dawn's deep faith, she took part in multiple pilgrimages including the Camino de Santiago Trail, Spain, Walk to Mary, Casa Hogar Orphanage, Peru, and the Holy Land. Her faith also led her to a life of selfless service to others.
Dawn had a keen ability to sense someone in need and help them through their struggles. Close to Dawn's heart was becoming a Vincentian volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul of Wausau, aiding those in need. She also gave countless hours volunteering and fundraising for multiple organizations.
One of Dawn's greatest gifts was her role as Godmother and auntie. She helped to raise many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Dawn loved watching them grow. She was a source of strength, hope, and love to them all, leaving behind a lasting legacy of kindness, compassion, and faith. Her godchildren include Kerry Wood, Andy Wood, Crystal Wood, Shenae (Graykowski) Zempel, Lyndsey (Krebsbach) Stachowicz, Andrew Lieders, Christina (Grunow) Foster, and Jadyn (Goodwin) Botello.
Dawn was fun-loving and a gifted organizer of get-togethers and trips for the Krebsbach and Wood families. Her sense of humor and fun will be greatly missed.
Nature is where you would find Dawn when she wasn't giving her time in other ways. She loved spending time up north with Jack, family, and friends. Her sense of adventure led her on many hikes, walks, and kayak excursions. Dawn loved to travel and was blessed to have seen some of the most beautiful and interesting places in the United States and world.
Dawn worked at Podiatry Associates of Wausau for many years. Most recently she worked for St. Vincent de Paul of Wausau. Dawn and Jack owned Riverwood Spa and Retreat in Rhinelander. Dawn enjoyed hosting many different retreats and the guests enjoyed her sense of humor and excellent cooking.
Dawn is survived by her husband Jack. Siblings, Sandra (Richard) Gawryleski, Patricia (Alan) Ridderbusch, Daniel (Diane) Krebsbach, Dale (Linda) Krebsbach, Keith (Sherri) Krebsbach, Roger (Laurie) Krebsbach, Mary (Kevin) Lieders, Sue (Jerry) Grunow, Kevin (Beth) Krebsbach, Renee (David) Phillips, Jill (Joe) Goodwin. In-laws, Darlene (Bernie) Schiefer, Jim (Gigi) Wood, Ken Kieffer, Barb Wood, Sue Austin (special friend Paul), Jill (Scott) Czaplinski, Tracy Rowney, more than 100 nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
