DAWYNE JOHNSON Obituary
Dawyne A. Johnson was born on November 6, 1969, to Jessie Johnson and David Melton in Clarksdale, Mississippi.
Dawyne relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1976. He attended Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Pike High School.
Dawyne accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized into the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the Leadership of the late Elder David Lee on December 6, 1987. Dawyne was employed at Carrier.
Dawyne loved to play his video games, especially with his grandson. He was an Xbox gamer and would say all the time, "If you're not playing the Xbox you're not a gamer." In his spare time outside of hanging with his family, he also loved to work on cars and ride in his Buick with his speakers (surround sound system) that he loved o' so dearly. You could hear him turning onto your street, but he knew to TURN IT DOWN, before he parked, lol. He was also a big fan of racing. He would meet up with his favorite cousins at the racetrack to hang out for the Indy 500 weekend activities. Dawyne enjoyed dressing up and Nike was his all-time favorite brand of shoes. He loved a good air max 90 and a classic shell toe Adidas with a nice two-piece hard boy outfit with his famous Kango hat you couldn't tell him he was not clean.
Dawyne A. Johnson departed this life on April 17, 2025, at the age of fifty-five years old at his home. Dawyne was preceded in death by his younger sister Teresa Howard.
Dawyne leaves to cherish his memory his five daughters, Dalayne Johnson, Yasmine Johnson, Dejah Johnson, Diamond Johnson, and Brezia Lewis; one son Dawyne A. Johnson II; seven grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Jessie March (Paul); father, David Melton; seven sisters, Sharon D. Hull (John), Tennille March, Jerunda Wiley, Felice Melton Dupree (Dennis), Renee Jenkins, and Dorice Jenkins; two brothers, David Melton Jr. and Tommy Andre Melton; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relative and friends.
