Dea Kay Sattler Obituary Dea "Kay" Sattler, 78 of Valparaiso, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024. She was born October 3, 1946 in Athens, Ohio, the daughter of Robert and Vera (Davis) Matthews. She spent her years as an impassioned educator at the college, middle school, and high school levels. Her love and fondness for math worked to inspire future generations of mathematicians. She was once a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Valparaiso. On August 17, 1968, she married William "Bill" Sattler and enjoyed fifty loving years of adventures, laughter, and many hours dancing together. Bill preceded her in death on September 16, 2018. Surviving are her daughter Stacy (Greg) Sorg of Oak Park, IL and son Pete Sattler of Valparaiso, grandchildren Connor, Brady, and Emerson and a brother James (Laura) Matthews of Dublin, OH. Kay enjoyed various outdoor adventures over the years, passing on bits of wisdom and humor. Those memories shall blossom through the years for future generations who have had the benefit of sharing adventures with her. We find solace in the vision of Kay and Bill who are once again in the embrace of a beautiful dance. Memorial service will be on Saturday, Dec 14, 2:00 PM at Bartholomew funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Valparaiso Schools Foundation.
