Dean Horace Rogers

- Dean Horace Rogers 57, passed away Friday August 29th due to what appears to have been a heart attack.

Dean was born June 20th, 1968, in Roanoke, VA to parents Sherwood Carrol Rogers who proceeded him in death and Dorothy Elaine Wheeler-Rogers.

He attended Courtland High School, Spotsylvania, VA and became an auto mechanic early on. He had a passion for cars and specialized in Mercedes and BMW. At the time of his death, he was a landlord for an apartment building located in Virginia

He leaves behind his mother Dorothy Wheeler Rogers of Colonial Heights, VA,

Sister Natalie Rogers Thomas (Nelson) of Spotsylvania, VA with her son Andrew and grandson Brenden.

He also leaves behind his children; son, Chris Rice (Summer) of Virginia Beach, VA along with his 5 sons Camden, Elijah, Carter, Colton and River. Daughter, Cecelia Rogers Deem (Tyler) of Beverly Hills, FL with her son Abel and newborn daughter Amelia. Daughter, Sydney Rogers of Chesapeake, VA. Son, Quinn Rogers of Chesapeake, VA. Stepdaughter Jessica Mangano Lowery (David) of Tappahannock, VA with children Sam Davis, Gabe Davis, Savannah Lowery, Chance Lowery, Grace Lowery, and Gianna Lowery. Stepdaughter Danielle Nixon (Arik) of Virginia Beach, VA with her daughter Avery Nixon and son Kole Koudelka, and Stepdaughter Amanda Nixon of Virginia Beach, VA

Dean was a kind soul that never liked to impose on others. He was private in his personal life, but once he got to know you, he could talk about any subject for hours.

In his younger years, Dean was an adrenaline junkie, always up for an adventure like bungee jumping, riding the rapids of the Rappahannock River in a blow-up raft, and even surfing the waves coming off the storms.

You could find Dean on the beach every morning watching the sunrise. That was his time with God, watching the promise of a new day painted out before him by the most incredible artist of all.

Those that met him along their beach walks, met a pleasant man that always seemed to see the joy in life whether that was in the sunrise, the sand beneath his feet, or that "strange bird that sat near the pergola for a few days".

Family and friends may gather to pay respects 11:00 am Saturday, September 20th at HD Oliver Funeral Apts., 2002 Laskin Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23454

In lieu of flowers, Dean's family suggests memorial contributions be made to the family.
