Frances Lynne Jarrett Gilbert of
Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025 at the age of 71. Lynne's family was blessed to be by her side the entire day of the 31st. Daughters Michelle, Melissa, and Melody and husband David were holding her and encouraging her while singing Lynne's favorite praise and worship songs. On the evening of the 31st, Lynne's soul departed for her eternal home with the Lord where she was reunited with family members and close friends.
Lynne was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 17, 1954 to Dr. and Mrs. Alvin Q. Jarrett and she was raised with her younger sister, Leslie Jarrett Lawler. All knew Lynne's mother as "Pankie". Within a month, her family moved to
Virginia Beach, VA where her father began his medical practice. The family attended Virginia Beach United Methodist Church. Lynne attended First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach. She graduated from Old Dominion University with a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene after completing the undergraduate Dental Hygiene program. She would credit her father and her father's brother, Dr. Thomas Roy Jarrett, Jr., an early practicing dentist in Virginia Beach, on guiding her to pursue her education in dental hygiene. Lynne and David were married in October 1996. They came together in love to form a Christian family to raise three daughters who love the Lord and one another.
Lynne is survived by her husband, David H. Gilbert and three daughters: Michelle Burrus Bradley, Melissa Lynne Burrus Sullivan, and Melody Lane Litwiller. In addition to her three daughters, she is survived by and affectionately known as "Mema" or "Mo" to her six beautiful grandchildren: Isabelle Eloise Bradley, Olivia May Sullivan, Owen Michael Sullivan, Evelynn Michelle Littwiller, Christian Jacob Litwiller, Jr., and Beckham Jonathan Litwiller. Lynne's sons-in-law include Brooks A. Bradley, Colin M. Sullivan, and Christian J. Litwiller. She also is survived by her sister, Leslie Jarrett Lawler and her brother-in-law, Dr. Frederick W. Lawler, Jr., who have two adult children, Daniel Jarrett Lawler and Kelsey Elizabeth Lawler. Lynne's beloved and large extended Jarrett family, who have provided a lifetime of love and support for her and her family, will keep Lynne held tightly in their hearts.
Lynne's Christian faith was critical to her life from a young age. She enthusiastically recounts going to the very first Young Life meetings at the Fire Escape at the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Later, she thoroughly enjoyed the Thursday morning bible study at Galilee Church and the friendships that she formed. One of her favorite ministries with which she took part was "I'm Worth Waiting For". As a faithful follower of Christ, she loved God and the in-depth study of His word; making her greatest legacy that of teaching her family to do the same.
A celebration of life will commence at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10 at Galilee Church, 3928 Pacific Ave.,
Virginia Beach, VA, with a reception to follow at the Princess Anne Country Club, 3800 Pacific Ave.,
