Dean Thomas Savas, Jr.
October 12, 1951 - November 15, 2025
Dean, of Brookfield, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, after a lengthy illness at the age of 74.
He grew up in Brookfield and attended Brookfield Central, Dominican College, and the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School. Dean had a kind and generous heart, a strong work ethic, and lived his life with great passion. He loved his family and cherished loyal friendships.
Dean enjoyed classic movies, classic cars, American history, the Green Bay Packers, hunting, fishing, golfing, and the great outdoors. An expert marksman, he participated in many big game hunts across North America and in both eastern and western Europe. He was always accompanied by his beloved Wirehaired Pointing Griffons during his upland bird hunts.
In his younger years, Dean held the designation of master diver and completed numerous dives throughout Wisconsin and along the eastern seaboard. His love of golf began early, when he worked as a caddy at Westmoor Country Club. As a teenager, he would ride his bike from his home in Brookfield to Greenfield Park Golf Course with his clubs slung over his shoulder. He often said his fondest golfing memory was playing the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland with his father.
Dean was the loving husband of Beth (née Stefaniak) Savas for 40 years. He was a most devoted and loving son of the late D. Tom and the late Irene Savas.
He was preceded in death by his beloved aunt, Marian Ivalis; his in-laws, Norbert J. and Elizabeth Stefaniak; and other family members and friends. He is further survived by members of the Savas, Ivalis, and Stefaniak families.
Beth wishes to express her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who sent cards, flowers, and well wishes to Dean during his long illness. Your kindness brought comfort to them both. She is deeply thankful to the home healthcare workers for their compassionate care. Many blessings to Turner and the Doering family for their generosity and support. Special thanks to Dan Kottke and Jeff Zandi for all the help they gave Dean, and to Jean Stefaniak and Ann Spaltholz for their generous gifts of time and assistance to Beth. Your love and support mean more than words can express.
Honoring Dean's wishes, there will be no formal services.
