Dean Sherman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dupuis Funeral Home - Ashland on Dec. 23, 2025.
Plymouth, NH - Dean F. Sherman, 91, a devoted husband, professional conservationist, and a cornerstone of the Plymouth community for over six decades, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025.

Born and raised in Lancaster, NH, Dean graduated from Lancaster High School before attending Norwich University. He later married the love of his life, Meredith. In 1964, Dean moved his family from Lancaster to Plymouth, a town he would call home for the rest of his life.

Dean's professional life was marked by a deep respect for the land and the local economy. He dedicated many years to the US Soil Conservation Service, protecting the natural beauty and resources of the state he loved. After his retirement you might have seen him working at Waterville Valley and LW Packard.

His love for the outdoors took them across the continent, including memorable camping trips through Canada and all the way to Alaska. He loved to fish and hunt, especially during many seasons at Notch Pond in Brunswick VT. During the summer months, Dean was a familiar and friendly face at Cogwood Campground, where he enjoyed the simplicity of life by the campfire, right up until they closed. Dean as a younger man enjoyed playing on the Lancaster Baseball Town Team.

In the community, He was a 60-year member of the Plymouth Elks Lodge, where he embodied the organization's values of service.

At home, Dean was a master vegetable and garlic gardener, known for his patience and the quality of his harvest. He loved to share the fruits of his labor. When the New Hampshire landscape turned white, he could be found snowmobiling through the woods or seated comfortably at home, meticulously working on a puzzle.

Dean is predeceased by his wife, Meredith, his parents, Fred and Sally Sherman, and his sister, Polly Mccullock.

He is survived by Daughters, Andrea Samaha and Louis of Plymouth, Christine Weden and Scott of Plymouth and his Son, Craig Sherman and Tina Walker of Sunapee. Grandchildren, Norman Samaha and Amy Samaha, Amanda Bailey and Michael Weden. McCartney and McHale Cahill. Great-Grandchildren, Isabell Smith, Helen Bailey, Owen Hayward and Ida Samaha.
