Dean Franklin Shriver, 90, of Pleasant City, passed away Sunday (January 18, 2026) at his home.

He was born August 5, 1935 in Guernsey County, son of the late Noah Shriver and Lois (Miley) Shriver.

Dean was a graduate of Valley Local High School in Buffalo. He retired from Vanadium Shield Alloy after forty-four years of service and was a lifetime farmer of Shriver Farms. He was always an advocate for education and agriculture.

He was a lifelong member and served on the church council and cemetery committee for Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant City.

Dean served for several years on the Guernsey County Fair Board and the Rolling Hills Local School Board. He had also served on the Guernsey Noble Feeder Calf Association and the Ohio Beef Marketing Board.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wilda (Robinson) and Roy Shugert; his brother, Dale Shriver; his in-laws, Robert and Marie Hartman, Dave McVicker, Dean and Norma Shugart, Kenneth Shugert; his son-in-law, Jerry Kackley; and a great-grandson, Hudson Shriver.

Dean is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Martha (Shugert) Shriver; his children, Katherine (Brian) Johnson, Deborah Kackley (Kevin Murphy), and Wayne (Krista) Shriver; his sisters-in-law, Elsie McVicker, Sandy Shugert, and Barbara Shriver; his grandchildren, Josh (Jenny) Stiers, Suzanne (Chris) Clark, Jessica (Kevin) Rose, Kassandra (Brian) Shafer, Jessica (Taylor) Tom, Ethan (Maria) Shriver, Heath (Taylor) Shriver, and Andrea (John) Kirby; his great-grand-children, Waylon, Wyatt, Jenna, Tyler, Cole, Cody, Ryan, Sara, Harlow, Holland, Hattie, Haidyn, and Noah; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private service was held for the family. Burial took place at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Pleasant City.
