DeAnn DeVries

DeAnn DeVries, 60, of Waterloo and formerly of Ackley, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Friday, April 4,. 2025 at the Austinville Christian Reformed Church with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Ackley. Visitation will be an hour before the service. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.
DeAnn Marie DeVries was born December 15, 1964, in Marion, Iowa. She grew up in the Allison-Bristow area with her adoptive parents, Daryl and Irene DeVries.
She graduated from Tripoli, Iowa in 1983 and in 1985 moved to Waterloo. She received services from EPI, REM, and finally moved to Harmony House. DeAnne attended Newell Post and worked at Goodwill for 40 years. She retired from work in 2023. During her time with these services, she was the source of much joy and laughter to all who knew her. DeAnn's faith was very important to her, and she attended Heartland Vinyard Church regularly. She enjoyed holidays, shopping, day trips, karaoke, country and contemporary Christian music, iced coffee, and talking on the phone. She will be remembered for her joy, sense of humor, and the way she touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
DeAnn is survived by her parents Daryl and Irene DeVries, Patrick Nolan (who she thought of as a brother) and wife Kristi, their children, several uncles, aunts, and a lot of friends.
