VAN HORNESVILLE – DeAnna Hazel Bronner, age 51, Van Hornesville, NY, passed away suddenly on Saturday February 5, 2022 in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.
DeAnna was born September 6, 1970 in Little Falls Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Darwin E. and Martha (Hoke) Bronner. She was raised and educated in Van Hornesville and a graduate of Owen D. Young Central School. After high school, she obtained an Associates' Degree in Marketing at Herkimer County Community College and continued her studies in business at SUNY Technical Institute,
Utica, NY, from which she received a bachelors' degree in Business Administration.
After graduation, DeAnna began working for Fleet Bank (which later became Bank of America). This began a lifelong association with financial institutions including SBU, Bank of New York, Partners Trust, and finally with BNY Mellon in Oriskany. A dedicated employee and manager, she took great pride in her work at these institutions and the friends she made there. Encouraging her subordinates to be the best they could be was her favorite part of the work as part of management. Always quick with a smile, a song, and a laugh she tried her best to make her work venue a safe and fun place to be.
Community and faith were important to DeAnna. A Trustee for the Jordanville Federated Church, she assisted with the Summer Bible Program, and loved participating in the dinners and teas that were fundraising activities for the church, especially as they provided opportunities to reconnect with old friends and family. She also served on the Library Board of Trustees and the Town of Stark Board of Elections.
DeAnna loved sports and was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. She also had a deep love for the New York Mets, and LA Lakers. Many a winter night was spent arguing with her father over the merits of Magic Johnson and his LA Lakers over Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics. She was a big fan of the entertainment industry as she loved wrestling, music (classical to hip hop and all the genres in between!), and the cinema (especially arguing over classic movies and actors and their modern day equivalents!)
Family is family, whether through blood or friendship. She delighted in nights out where talk and laughter were the main goals as well as time at home baking with younger cousins or playing cards with family. Always ready for a good time, no one was more supportive or protective of those she considered "family" nor loved a good conversation more than DeAnna!
Surviving her are sister Debra A. Bronner of Van Hornesville, two brothers, Richard Bronner and wife Darlene of Van Hornesville, Robert Bronner and wife Bethany of Mohawk, an Uncle, Gordon Hoke of Richfield Springs, special cousins Heather Hoke Bloomfield and her husband Dave, Eric Hoke and his friend Becky McLamb, Jackie and Larrie Gauthier, and Laurie Gauthier and her fiancé Ashley Fuller, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service for DeAnna will be on Saturday June 4th at the Jordanville Federated Church, from 10:00 am until 12 noon.
Donations can be made to the Van Hornesville Fire Department. the Jordanville Federated Church, or the Jordanville Library.
