Deb A. (Marit) Laurent, 68, Bellevue, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, June 16, 2025. She was born July 27, 1956, in Algoma to Clarence and Rose Marie (Paral) Marit. Deb graduated from St. Mary Grade School and Algoma High School in 1974. Deb married Allen Laurent on September 6, 1975, at St. Mary Church in Algoma. Deb and Allen were blessed with two daughters; Hillary (Adam) Schellinger and Courtney (William) Depaz.
Deb was a passionate, driven, strong and hardworking woman. She thrived as a business owner. Many remember Deb working at her bar/restaurant on Highway 54 in Algoma. Deb later owned Wintergreen Resort in Park Falls, Wisconsin. Deb was a true "people person" with a heart of gold who could strike up a conversation and make friends with anyone. Deb's winning personality, sense of humor, generous spirit, good nature and good cooking made her truly a one-of-a-kind daughter, sister, mother and friend.
Those close to Deb knew of her struggles in recent years. Deb suffered a major stroke in 2021. Doctors were shocked and amazed she even survived. Deb fought hard for her life and worked hard through her recovery. Deb was strong, brave and fiercely determined to get back everything she lost from her stroke-she did it! Sometimes it's good to be stubborn, right?
Deb enjoyed reading, working on puzzles, cooking, tending to her plants, relaxing outdoors with a good cup of coffee and spending time with treasured family and friends. Deb enjoyed regular weekly shopping and errand trips with Courtney. They referred to these trips affectionately as "Yank Around Wednesdays." Wednesdays won't quite be the same, but thankfully they shared countless laughs and memories. Deb also liked to go on casino runs with William, her son-in-law. There were plenty of road trip "turn and burn" visits with Hillary and time spent making memories with her granddaughters, Lauren and Claire.
Deb will be greatly missed beyond measure. Deb is survived by her two daughters, Hillary (Adam) Schellinger, Pleasant Prairie and Courtney (William) Depaz, Green Bay; granddaughters, Lauren and Claire Schellinger; her parents, Clarence and Rose Marie Marit, Algoma; sister, Mary Jo (Brian) Bloom, Iola; and brother John Marit, New London; Justin Haack, nephew and Karen (Mark) Kudick, niece. Deb is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Deb was preceded in death by an infant brother, Leo John Marit and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Family and friends may gather at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, Monday, July 14, 2025, from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM, the time of Memorial Services at 7:00 PM.

Heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Deb´s family. As a very young girl, I remember playing with Deb and her sister when we would visit. Over years, there was no contact but in reading her memorial, she had a very full life. Cherish the memories! Heartfelt prayers, Cecelia Charland (cousin)

Debbie has been in my life since the day she was born & I became her auntie! We played together as children & shared secrets as we grew up. As adults, Dave & I enjoyed visits with her that ended way too soon.
Debbie had a heart of gold. In her memory, we made a donation to the American Heart Association of WI. May she rest in peace, Auntie Marge & Uncle Dave.
