Donald Lewis Laurent "Papa", 83, met his Lord and Savior on July 14, 2025, in Dimmitt, TX. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Abundant Life Family Church in Dimmitt, TX, with Todd McDaniel officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home in Plainview, TX.

Donald was born on November 12, 1941, in Plainview, Texas, to "Inez" Lorene Baldwin Laurent. He met the love of his life, Ginger, and they married on February 8, 1958, in Plainview, Texas. Together, they celebrated 63 years of marriage before her passing in 2019.

Don was a loving and caring person, known for his great sense of humor and for never meeting a stranger. His love for his grandchildren and all children was immense. He was one of the hardest-working men you could ever know. As a cowboy and pen rider, he spent much of his time tinkering and building various things, showcasing his talent in woodworking. A jack of all trades, Don also performed body work on cars; if something was broken, he always found a way to fix it. Don and Ginger proudly owned the Bobcat Drive-In in Dimmitt, a place where many individuals have fond memories of their time working for them.

Don had a deep enjoyment of horses and all animals. He was always happiest when riding his motorcycle with Ginger, traveling to Red River, the Canadian River, and other beautiful places. He had a passion for Bluegrass and Classic Country music, and nothing brought him more joy than dancing in the kitchen with his beloved wife. Don's legacy of love, dedication, and joy will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.

Don was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ginger Laurent, a son, John Laurent, his mother, "Inez" Lorene Baldwin Laurent, his sister, Patsy Green, three brothers, Larry Laurent, Jackie Laurent and Billy Laurent.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Reggie Laurent and wife Nancy of Amarillo, TX, Rhonda Reyes of Dimmitt, TX and Lisa Alvarez and husband Joe of Dimmitt, TX; His brothers, James Laurent and wife Shirley of Dalhart, TX and Mike Laurent of Amarillo, TX; his 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank everyone at BSA South Plains Hospice, everyone that has said a kind word or prayer. Also, those who helped take care of Don during his last days.
