Obituary published on Legacy.com by Somerset Undertaking Co. and Crematory - Somerset on Oct. 20, 2025.
Deborah Sue "Debbie" Sparks, age 64 of Somerset, passed from this earthly walk of life into her heavenly eternal reward on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center after an extended illness.
She was born on Wednesday, July 5, 1961, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Helen Matthews Wing and Jerry Wing, with her grandparents; Fannie and Bennie Matthews, playing an integral part in her rearing. Debbie was a graduate of Barren County High School and furthered her career at Eastern Kentucky University. Debbie was employed with the Pulaski County School System for over 13 years, where she served as a Speech Assistant. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, David E. Sparks, in Glasgow, Kentucky, on December 20, 1980. Together, they celebrated over 44 years of marriage. Debbie enjoyed camping, boating, and shopping, and she loved her grandkids with all her heart. She loved the Lord and was considered a prayer warrior and an inspiration to those who knew her. She was an active member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church. Because of her love for children, she became the nursery school director and then continued to serve passionately in the OHBC children's ministry for over 30 years. Debbie was a member of the Corvette Club and had a genuine love for chocolates. She was a loving, kindhearted, and generous person who will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories, her beloved husband, David E. Sparks of Somerset, two devoted children, Ashlie Candice (Rodney) Baugh and Justin Matthew Sparks, all of Somerset, and four grandchildren: Addy Baugh, Nash Baugh, Camden Sparks, and Weston Sparks, her mother, Helen Matthews Wing and step-father Jerry Wing, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Bennie and Fannie Matthews.
