Debbie Jo Morantes Velasquez of Cibolo Texas was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 9, 1981, to Robert and Natalia Morantes. She left to be with our Lord on October 11, 2025, at the age of 44.
Debbie was proceeded in death by her grandparents, Gabino Truelove Morantes, Hilario P. Vargas (Fermina Vargas), and Stella Fischer. She is survived by her loving husband Eric Velasquez, Daughters Violet and Lily Velasquez, father and mother Robert and Natalia Morantes, brothers Gabriel Morantes (Bethany), Quisto Morantes (Andrea) and sisters Bobbie Jo Young (Sam), Denise Guzman and countless nieces and nephews.
Debbie Jo graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. She worked at Bexar County for eighteen years and held the position of Senior Business Intelligence Developer as a Supervisor. At Bexar County she was loved, respected and treated like family. Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family, trying new restaurants, watching UTSA football, baking, and attending school events for her children. Debbie Jo Velasquez will be greatly missed by all her numerous friends, colleagues, and family. The family would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Gloria Camacho, Danny Gusme and all of the staff at Guiding Light.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00PM - 8:00PM, with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00PM, on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Schertz Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will take place at 10:00AM on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel with interment to immediately follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
