Deborah Michele Barnes

Deborah Kelly Barnes, 69, died Saturday, August 12, 2023 at her Grasonville home with her family by her side. She was a beautiful person who spread joy and happiness wherever she went.
Deborah was born July 30, 1954, in Baltimore, Maryland to Robert and Evelyn Kelly. She graduated from Severna Park High School in 1972. After spending a few years as a homemaker, she went on to become the very first female security guard at the former North Arundel Hospital. She recently retired from Economy Pest Control, Inc. where she had worked over 33 years alongside her husband.
She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who was always there when we needed her. She never met a stranger and was everybody's friend. She loved gardening and had a house full of beautiful plants. She enjoyed nature and loved watching for daily visits from hummingbirds, osprey, eagles, ducklings and fawns.
Deborah was predeceased by her mother, Evelyn Kelly who died August 15, 2016 and her father, Robert Kelly who died April 3, 2020.
Deborah was an incredible wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend to many. She is now watching over her husband, Kevin Barnes; her daughters, Kelly (Kenneth) Smith and Stephanie (Michael) Layden; her grandchildren, Colby, Taylor, Conner, Carsyn, Camryn and Luke; her sisters, Sherry (Ron) Andes and Denise (Richard) Hesson and her brother Darryl (Trina) Kelly.
A visitation for Deborah will be held Wednesday, August 16th from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401. Funeral services will be held at Hardesty Funeral Home, Thursday, August 17th at 11am followed by burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 1911 Forest Drive, Annapolis, MD 21401 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to https://www.stjude.org/ or https://compassregionalhospice.org/
