Deborah L. Bretl, 70, of Marinette, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, March 10, 2024. She was born January 24, 1954 in Marinette to Robert and Dorothy Kramer. She was a lifelong area resident and a 1972 graduate of Menominee High School. Debbie married Steven Bretl of Menominee in 1974. He preceded her in death in 1983. Early in her employment career she had worked for KSU in Marinette as a quality control technician. After devoting time to her family for several years, she began a second career with Peter Piper Day Care in Marinette. Debbie loved her classroom work in early childhood education and developed a mutually rewarding relationship with co-workers who in turn supported her in so many ways. Debbie was a diehard Menominee Maroon and Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed playing computer games.
She is survived by children, Brian (Amy) Bretl, Lindsay (Scott) Paul and Stacy (Brad) Alcock; grandchildren, Alexandra (Jon) Brooks, Hailee (Zach) Thorne, Lexi Bretl, Trey Bretl, Hannah Ries, Jalen Paul, Braden Paul, Zachary Barstow, Madison Alcock and Brooklyn Alcock; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Ann) Kramer.
In addition to her husband, Steve; she was preceded in death by her parents and a special friend, John Pocan.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette beginning at 4 p.m. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 6 p.m. Burial will be made with her husband at Forest Home Cemetery.
