Deborah "Debbie" Pauline Fillyaw, 48, of Panama City, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022 of Pancreatic Cancer after a courageous three-year battle.
Many thanks to the doctors and nurses of Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa as well as Dr. Andrew Weber of Florida Cancer Associates and the many nurses and staff at Gulf Coast Hospital.
Debbie personified a zest for life that is difficult to quantify. Her many friends in Panama City knew her kindness and generosity had no bounds. As for family, her love was endless and openly expressed. Her parents were the basis of that loyalty and love. She was always known to say "I love you" with every phone call or exiting to leave.
Debbie's brother Tommy has always been her hero and best friend. They were thick as thieves; hanging out locally at Stetson's and anywhere the fun was.
If there was a conflict, she would step right in the middle to stand her ground or fight for those unable to do so. She was a force to be reckoned with but quick to resume a good time. Her laugh will long be remembered by all who loved her. Debbie's personality and smile commanded notice as she entered or exited a room.
Her interests included clothes, shoes, dogs, shopping, kayaking, fishing and driving her cute little cars. Debbie was a die-hard Republican and Donald Trump supporter.
Debbie made us all proud of her achievements and her passion for living, as well as her absolute love of animals. To say she will be missed is undeniable. She last worked for Cotton Construction Company of Houston, TX in safety and quality control.
She is preceded in death by grandparents, John and Ophelia Gunnoe; Joe and Catherine Fillyaw; Jesse and Sara Edenfield; Hank Fillyaw, Joel Fillyaw, Johnny Fillyaw, Jane Northrup, and David Niblet.
Living relatives include Tom and Dianne Fillyaw, Tommy Fillyaw and wife Shelly, DJ Moore, Dawn Cross, Catherine Niblet, Martha Brigman, Jesse Edenfield, Lloyd Edenfield, Perry and Debbie Brigman; as well as many cousins and second cousins living in Alaska, Texas, Montana, Georgia and Florida.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Parkway Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Kim Stavenau officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Debbie's final resting place will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Orlando, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alaqua Animal Refuge, 155 Dugas Way, Freeport, FL 32439, https://alaqua.org or by calling 850-880-6399.
