Deborah A. Linko (Zawerton)
Horseheads, NY (formerly of Port Crane, NY)
Passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 66. She was born on June 4, 1959 in Hartford, Connecticut to her late parents, Eugene Zawerton and Antoinette DiMartino Zawerton. She is also predeceased by her nephew Jordan Zawerton, her many fur babies and members of her loving family.
She is survived by her siblings; Catherine (Mike) Ahrens and their children Megan (James) DiNicolantonio (children AJ and Emma), Lauren (Joey) Furjanic (children Maverick and Jovie), Nathan (Franceslyne) Lowmaster (daughter Luna), and Matthew Ahrens; Ted Zawerton and his children Ash (Lydia) Zawerton (daughter Vivian), Abbey (James) Weaver (children Malcolm, Ranger, and Louie); and Thomas (Dianne) Zawerton. She is also survived by her many extended family members and friends as well as her two fur babies, "The General" and "KenZ".
Deborah was employed by Frito Lay in Kirkwood, New York as the Head of Payroll for twenty years. Working for Frito Lay was "the best time of her life" and she enjoyed organizing many cancer walks, of which she was often the team leader. Deborah was known as "The Pretty and Kind Lady in Payroll", and affectionately referred to her co-workers as her "Frito Lay Family" and "the best people she has ever known." It was an honor for her to serve her bosses and fellow employees at Frito Lay. She also enjoyed her time with Julie Weeks Atwood, her best friend and confidant for over 30 years.
The family would like to extended their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, staff and the Hospice care providers at Robert Packer Hospital for their fantastic care of Deborah. As well as the doctors and health personnel that have cared for her over the years. Not to mention the many loving and kind neighbors and friends who looked after her at home.
The family welcomes your condolences at this time, but services will be held privately at a later date. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in her honor, please consider donating to the Chemung County SPCA or Elmira Animal Shelter in her memory.
