Deborah "Debbie" Sue Maggard, 56, of Charlotte, a well-loved caregiver and friend to many, died Wednesday, November 29, 2023 in Lansing. Debbie was born April 6, 1967 in Charlotte, the daughter of Edward and June (Saylers) Maggard. She graduated from Charlotte High School in 1985 before working many years in retail. Debbie worked at Fashion Bug, Dunhams, Shell and Speedway, where she made many lasting friendships. More recently, she took a job as a baker at the Eaton County Health and Rehabilitation Services building. While there, her love for people and caring for others lead her to volunteer in the evening hours to look after residents and spend time reading to them. While Debbie never had children of her own, "everybody's baby was Debbie's baby." She loved children, and treated them as if they were her own. Debbie will forever be remembered for her love of family.
Debbie is survived by her sister, Linda Satterlee; life partner of over 20 years, Stan Chaffee; several cousins and extended family; and an enormous host of close friends. She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother, Thomas Reid Maggard in 2010.
Friends are encouraged to support Debbie's family by attending services or sharing memories on her Tribute Page at www.prayfuneral.com. A Memorial Gathering is being planned for a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Pray Funeral Home in support of Debbie's final expenses. The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
