Deborah A. McCoy, 75, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born on May 19, 1949, in Lewistown, Deborah was the beloved daughter of the late William L. and Evelyn P. (Narehood) Shoemaker. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn McCoy; her brother, Donald Shoemaker; her granddaughter, Emma E. McCoy; and her daughter-in-law, Deborah K. (Hagerty) McCoy. Deborah is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Donald E. McCoy, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and memories since their marriage on November 16, 1967. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Dawn Lyter and husband Ronald, her son, Craig McCoy, and Jennifer and Charles Harmon, each of whom she loved unconditionally and supported with unwavering devotion. As a mother, Deborah was a source of endless encouragement, wisdom, and warmth. She celebrated her children's achievements, guided them through life's challenges, and embraced every moment with them with a heart full of love. Her greatest joy, however, came from being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished every hug, laugh, and milestone shared with her grandchildren: Casey McCoy, Jacob Harmon, Kayla McCoy, Jordan Harmon, Jessica McCoy, Ashley McCoy, Hannah McCoy, Sydney McCoy, and Emmaleigh Harmon, and her great-grandson, Mason McCoy. Whether she was attending school events, baking their favorite treats, or simply listening to their stories, Deborah made each grandchild feel uniquely special and deeply loved. She was their biggest cheerleader, their comforting presence, and a constant source of kindness and wisdom. Deborah is also survived by her sister, Karen Moody, and her husband, Phillip. Deborah found happiness in life's simple pleasures-playing bingo, spending peaceful moments on her back porch with her husband, watching the deer she affectionately named, and admiring the delicate dance of hummingbirds. But above all, her heart was fullest when surrounded by her loved ones. Her legacy lives on in the love she poured into her family, the memories she created, and the kindness she extended to all who knew her. A funeral service honoring Deborah's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the viewing, which will be held from 6:00–8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Rock Cemetery. In remembrance of Deborah, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105, an organization close to her heart.
