Deborah S "Debbie" Michota

Deborah S. Michota, known to her loved ones as Debbie Michota, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2023, at the age of 68 in Hackensack, NJ. Born on November 6, 1954, in Hackensack, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Champion and Eleanor (nee Noble).
Debbie was a caring individual who deeply loved her family. She will be remembered for her devotion to her loved ones and her unwavering support. Her warm and compassionate nature touched the lives of all who knew her.
Debbie dedicated 40 years of her life as a Special Education Teacher at Bergen Technical School in Paramus. She was passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of her students and was highly respected for her dedication to their education and well-being.
Outside of her career, Debbie had a variety of interests and hobbies. She looked forward to visiting her Vermont home every year, where she found solace in the beauty of nature. She was also a passionate advocate for Greyhound adoption and cherished the companionship of her four-legged friends. Traveling was another passion of hers, and she had the opportunity to explore Europe, the United States, and the Caribbean.
Debbie leaves behind her beloved husband, Raymond, as well as her stepchildren, Alexa Schmid and husband David, and Jessica Mahony and Chris. She is also survived by her siblings, Sharon Michota and Cynthia Sferruzza, her nephews and nieces, Chris, Sean, Cher, Liz, Dawn and Tony. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Champion, and Eleanor (nee Noble), her daughter Jessica Michota (1996), and her sibling Terry Champion.
A graveside service to honor Debbie's life will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11:00 am at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 234 Paramus Rd., Paramus.
The compassionate professionals at Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home in Rutherford, NJ is assisting the family with the arrangements during this di cult time.
Debbie Michota will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
