Deborah "Debbie" Lynn (Tucker) Walsh, age 72, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024, at home, surrounded by family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Rick; their three children Ryan (Katie), Molly (RJ), and Brendan (Amber); her four grandchildren Kaelynn, Declan, Calan, and Norah; and her large extended family she loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bernice Tucker; her parents-in-law John and Ruth Ellen Walsh, and her brother Steve.
Debbie found joy in serving others. She retired in 2016 after meaningful careers in both social work and then early childhood education. Throughout her life, she worked to positively impact people, particularly children with special needs, through her kindness, patience, and positive outlook. She was also a dedicated supporter of numerous humanitarian and environmental causes.
She loved to garden, crochet, bake, read, and make things for others. Never a baby was born in the family without a homemade blanket. Her influence always made the Walsh home feel like a welcome place overflowing with love, creativity, and affection.
She loved spending time with her family and in nature, especially on the water. In her kayak, she was a member of the "church of the double-bladed paddle." She was also a long-time parishioner, lector, CCD teacher and Eucharistic Minister at St. Brendan Catholic Church in
Elkins, WV. More recently, she belonged to St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Cheat Lake, WV since moving to Preston County in 2021.
Debbie was a beloved wife, mom, "nana," reader, teacher, journaler, journeyer, kayaker, and believer in all possibilities.
Friends may join the family to honor Debbie's life and legacy at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 19 Jo Glenn Dr., Morgantown (Cheat Lake), on Friday, June 14th from 10:00 am until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Rev. Biju T. Devassy will celebrate the Funeral Mass. Green burial will follow at 2:30 pm at Penn Forest Natural Burial Park in Verona, PA. Those attending the committal service at the cemetery are asked to gather there by 2:20 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Doctors Without Borders: P.O. Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD 21741 in memory of Debbie Walsh.
